UNIDO’s curricula: on changes to the ozone legislation and distance training
In 2012–2014, the Russian criminal and administrative legislation that regulates the protection of the ozone layer was considerably changed. That brought into existence a new obligation for legal entities and private entrepreneurs; from the beginning of the next year they will keep accounts of ozone depleting substances (ODS). No new ODS-containing systems will be allowed for design and construction, and may be landfilled only after ODS recovery. The ODS consumption will be cut by 90% in 2015. Read more
Free online curriculum dedicated to changes to the Russian ozone legislation organized by UNIDO

Initiative Group Discussed Development of HVAC&R Professional Standard
The UN information center held a meeting of the initiative group of developers of professional standard “Refrigerating, heat pump, and air-conditioning equipment technician.” The working conference participants were representative of the Association of Professional in the Industry of Climate (APIC), Association of Engineers for Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning, Heat Supply and Building Thermal Physics (ABOK), Russian Union of Refrigeration Industry (ROSSOYUSKHOLODPROM), self-regulating associations NP ISZS-Montazh and NP ISZS-Proyekt, Professional training center—state independent educational institution of the city of Moscow, and project management unit for the UNIDO/GEF-MNRE project of HCFC phase-out in the Russian Federation. On June 17–18, 2014, GAOU UTs Professional placed two-day UNIDO’s workshop “Establishment of the certification and accreditation system for technicians engaged in installation, maintenance and repair of refrigerating, air-conditioning equipment and heat pumps.” Read more

Upon the initiative of MNRE on May 16, 2014, a meeting of the Ministry’s officials with members of UNIDO-Business working group, established under the aegis of the UNIDO Centre for International Industrial Cooperation in the Russian Federation, was organized. The document elaborated by MNRE for purposes of implementation of Federal law # 226-FZ “On amending Federal Law ‘On Environment Protection’ and certain legislative acts of the Russian Federation” dated 23.07.2013 was prepared with due consideration of proposals made by UNIDO–Business working group that was created as part of implementation of UNIDO/GEF-MNRE Project for HCFC phase-out. In January 2014, the Main Office for Combating Economic and Corruption Crimes and Investigative Department of the Russia’s Ministry of the Interior executed a major operation for detention and arrest of organizers and perpetrators of a large path for smuggling ozone-depleting substances into the territory of the Russian Federation. On December 2–4, the IV All-Russian Congress for Environmental Protection took place in the Russian Federation. On November 12–13, 2013, Ufa saw the Research-to-Practice Conference in Enhancement of Reliability and Efficiency of Refrigerating and Petrochemical Equipment. The event was organized by SRO Bashkiria Expert Association and OOO GEA Refrigeration RUS. More than 80 heads and specialists from refining and petrochemical enterprises, research institutes, food and dairy plants, enterprises of the Federal State Reserve Agency, and expert organizations of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Moscow, Ekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk, Perm, Orenburg, and Kurgan attended the conference.
