About
Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation (MNRE) is a federal executive authority of the Russian Federation that implements public administration in the field of nature management, environmental protection and ecological safety.
The Ministry ensures statutory regulation as well as drafts and submits to the Russian government federal constitutional laws, federal laws and presidential and governmental acts on the following issues:
- geological surveys, rational use and protection of subsurface resources,
- use, conservation, protection and regeneration of forests,
- use and protection of water objects,
- operation of reservoirs and multi-purpose water-resources systems, protective and other hydraulic structures (excluding those navigational) and promotion of their safety,
- protection, use and regeneration of wildlife objects and their habitat,
- specially protected natural areas,
- environment protection and security,
- protection of atmospheric air,
- production and consumer waste disposal (excluding those radioactive),
- improvement of economical mechanism for environmental management and environment protection.
Since May 18, 2018, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation (MNRE) is headed by Dmitriy Kobylkin.
