The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced on October 6 its latest actions to phase down climate-damaging HFCs under the American Innovation and Manufacturing (AIM) Act, releasing a final “Technology Transitions” rule to accelerate the ongoing transition to more efficient and climate-safe technologies in new refrigeration, heating and cooling systems and other products by restricting the use of HFCs where alternatives are already available. 500g charge limit for R290 in commercial refrigeration units now fully effective in EU
European manufacturers will be now able to sell self-contained commercial cabinets with a flammable refrigerant charge of up to approximately 500g (1.1lbs) of propane (R290) and up to 1.2kg (2.6lbs) of A2L less-flammable refrigerants, culminating a process that began in 2014. Read more
