Dear organizers and participants of all-Russian competition “Protect the Ozone Layer and Earth Climate!”

September 16 is the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer for the whole world. The Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer was signed on this day more than a quarter of a century ago and today we sum up all-Russian competition “Protect the Ozone Layer and Earth Climate.”

In 2013, the competition covered the whole Russia, and that is no coincidence: the year of 2013 was nominated the Year of Environment Protection in the Russian Federation. This year the Russian President has signed a new federal law that will enable to fulfill Russia’s international obligations under the Montreal Protocol and transit to competitive and environmentally-sound production methods. The new generation’s task is to be aware of problems of the ozone layer conservation and learn to protect our Earth and country.

Our jury, that includes specialists of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ministry of Education, UNIDO, Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resource Usage, Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring, Federal Children Ecological-Biological Center, College No. 19, considered 689 works in 7 nominations (pictures, posters, sustainability projects, essays, research works, social advertisement, and methodological work). I would like to express my gratitude to the Organization Committee for its great help in the competition arrangement and to every competitor, no matter whether he or she was included into this year’s list of winners or will hopefully be in future.

In conclusion, on behalf of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation, I would like to wish you good health, fruitful work and fine green planet!
