16.09.2015 - Workshop on ozone-safe foam technologies on the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer

On September 16, 2015, the International day for the preservation of the ozone layer, joint workshop “Ozone-safe technologies for the foam sector” took place in Moscow. The workshop was organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation (MNRE), UNIDO, and International Centre for Scientific and Technical Information (ICSTI).

The workshop was attended by representatives of MNRE, experts of ICSTI, heads of industry associations, unions and major enterprises.

At the workshop, the potential for use of such ozone-safe foaming agents as cyclopentane, methyl formate, hydrofluoroolefins, methylal, water in the Russian Federation was presented, and training courses dedicated to their use were announced. Many of these technologies have already been piloted at Russian enterprises as part of UNIDO/GEF-MNRE Project “Phase Out of HCFCs and Promotion of HFC-Free Energy Efficient Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Systems in the Russian Federation Through Technology Transfer”.
