Objectives and tasks of the project
The international Regional center is established to contribute to adoption of technologies with low global warming potential (GWP) in the refrigerating and air-conditioning sectors of European and Central Asian countries of Article 5 of the Montreal protocol on substances that deplete the ozone layer (RONA5).
Objectives of the Center:
- professional development in safe handling of refrigerants with low GWP and professionals’ certification;
- demonstration and propagation of energy efficient solutions for air-conditioning and refrigeration using refrigerants with minimum greenhouse effect;
- improvement of servicing practices for refrigerating and air-conditioning equipment;
- facilitation of reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
When developing training and certification programmes of the Regional center, best global practices, international and national standards and statutory regulations are considered.
Professional development and certification of professionals will make transition to ozone- and climate-safe refrigerants and energy efficient systems and methods easier, improve safety in the refrigerating and air-conditioning sectors.
The Center will enable governments and national trade associations of partner countries to create effective mechanisms for greenhouse gas emission reduction and stimulate transition to eco-friendly substances and technologies.
